Contact lists determine which contacts your Revenue Digital Assistant™ will engage. This article explains how to locate, map, and manage contact lists within the Conversation Editor.
Mapping a New Contact List
You can map a contact list or user list from your integrated system to a conversation directly from the Conversations page.
- From the Conversica Dashboard, click Conversations.
- Hover over the conversation you want to edit.
- Click Map New.
- Enter the contact list ID or Name.
- Click Add Mapping.
Note: If a contact list is already mapped, the option will appear greyed out and display [Already Mapped] next to the contact list name and ID.

You can locate a specific contact list or user list using one of the methods below. If you do not know which conversation a contact list is mapped to, or if have many contact lists mapped, Conversica recommends using the Global Search to quickly narrow your options.

- Select the contact list.

- Select the Contact List dropdown.
- Select the contact list.
Understanding Contact List Statuses
When a contact list is first mapped, it defaults to Inactive status. Make any necessary edits to the conversation before activating the contact list. For details on how to customize a conversation, see our article on How to Customize your Conversations
Note on Multiple Assistants: If your account includes multiple Revenue Digital Assistants, you can assign a specific Assistant to each campaign. See the Assistant that is assigned to the conversation in the "From" line in the Conversation Editor.
Contact List Statuses
| Status | Definition |
| Active | The contact list is active and leads will be automatically added to Conversica and messaged. |
| Paused | No new leads will be received to Conversica in a paused status, AND the agent will not send any messages to any leads previously received or in a messaging status during a paused status. No messaging activity will take place during this status. |
| Inactive | No new leads will be received by Conversica or messaged under the Contact List. Note, all conversations will default to an inactive status when first mapped or created, to allow for all edits prior to activating. Once a contact list has been moved to Active, one can move it to an Inactive status in order to STOP any new leads or contacts from being received by Conversica on that Contact List. In an Inactive Status, all leads and contacts previously received and/or are in current messaging will continue their messaging. Conversica will not receive or accept any NEW leads via this contact list for this conversation from the point it is moved to Inactive. |
Changing the Status of a Contact List
To change a contact list status, or to pause a mapped contact list, follow these steps:
- Select the contact list.
- Click the Status dropdown.
- Select Active, Inactive, or Pause, as desired.

FAQ
Q: Why is my contact list not appearing when I search for it?
A: If a contact list does not appear in search results, check the following:
- Confirm the list exists in your integrated system (CRM or marketing platform).
- Ensure the list has successfully synced with Conversica.
- Verify you are searching using the correct contact list name or ID.
- Make sure the contact list has been mapped to a conversation in the Conversation Editor, as some views only display lists that are already mapped.

A: If a contact list is set to Active, Conversica will immediately begin receiving leads and sending messages according to the conversation configuration.
